Teach Better is a flagship education initiative of Yaran e Khair, a youth-led nonprofit organization committed to expanding educational opportunities and empowering underserved communities in Pakistan. Designed in response to the limited access to continuous professional development for teachers in remote regions, the program focused on strengthening the quality of teaching through practical, evidence-based training.
The inaugural workshop was conducted over three days (19–21 June) at Ziarat Hall, Garam Chashma, Lower Chitral, bringing together teachers from government, private, and community schools across the region. Rather than relying on traditional lecture-based sessions, the program emphasized hands-on learning, interactive discussions, collaborative activities, and classroom-ready teaching techniques that participants could immediately implement in their own schools.
The curriculum covered a broad range of topics, including active learning methodologies, student engagement, classroom management, lesson planning, assessment strategies, and practical approaches to improving teaching across different subject areas. Sessions were facilitated by experienced educators, education specialists, researchers, and academic professionals from institutions such as Aga Khan University, the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, and other educational organizations, allowing participants to benefit from diverse expertise and real-world experience.
Beyond developing classroom skills, Teach Better aimed to build a sustainable community of educators who could learn from one another, exchange best practices, and collectively improve educational standards in Chitral. By investing in teachers, the program sought to create a long-term multiplier effect—improving not only instructional quality but also the educational experiences and future opportunities of thousands of students studying in remote mountain communities.
Through initiatives such as Teach Better, Yaran e Khair continues its mission of strengthening education, empowering local communities, and creating lasting social impact by ensuring that teachers have access to the knowledge, skills, and professional support needed to inspire the next generation of learners.
Our goal is to reach to more teachers in the remote areas and train them properly so that we can create a ripple affect of change and impact. Instead of focusing of individual students, it is sometimes better to work on the teachers, who can later on bring about change in their institutions. If you can only give Rs. 500 just this one time, it will still make a difference.
